Lego Mindstorm EV3 HIRE

Lego Mindstorm EV3 Educational Robot

Age 10+

SKU: N/A Category:

The EV3 core set consists of 500+ pieces to build a vast array of programmatically controlled purpose built robots. A feature of the EV3 core set is that it is designed to teach students robotics and coding in a clearly laid out, detailed and stepped manner making it easy to teach, and learn.

The EV3 intelligent brick, to which you connect any of the supplied motors and/or sensors, is the computer processor which runs the stored robot control programs created by the student. The sensors (ultrasonic, touch x 2 , light and gyro) provide data logging functionality which supplies the runtime information about the robot’s environment and can be used to programmatically control the robot via the simple to use Lego EV3 icon based visual programming language.

Code your autonomous parking robot, automatic headlights, road line detection system, object avoidance system and many more. All with very detailed build and programming instructions together with class lesson guidance and discussion points. With the guided lessons, teachers can learn at the same time as the students. Enjoy solving problems together.

The EV3 programming interface is similar in concept to the familiar (for many children) Scratch programming language ( and other programming languages can be used to control the students’ robotic creations, from easy to learn block based language to industry based C like programming languages. No matter which programming language is chosen, the skills learned through the analysis, design, build and test phases of each project are valuable problem solving lessons critical to developing an analytical mind.

Following the Lego two dimensional build instructions to create a three dimensional robot is a skill which most children would be familiar with. Extending this to include data logging features from the sensors, with output directed to the robot screen or computer, enables students to develop their learning of scientific data logging at a pace and level that is appropriate for their age, experience and desire.

Then step up to program the robot to act according to the environmental data it receives from the sensors. A trial and error process which is a great way for students to discover by doing and enforces the notion that ‘errors’ are merely learning opportunities.

The Kit is supplied with Instructions and 500+ pieces (no batteries included)
